A controversial two-year pilot program could lead to a private recreational limited access program for red snapper  
(May 26, 2017 - Alexandria, Va.) The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries recently announced a controversial two-year pilot program for Gulf of Mexico red snapper management. Expected to begin in 2018, the program will allow 150 randomly-selected offshore anglers in the state access to 25,000 pounds of Gulf of Mexico red snapper. These anglers must agree to take part in a mandatory reporting program via smartphones in order to participate in the pilot program.

Chickamauga Pro Tops 215-boat Field, Wins $52,200
(Mar 4, 2017 - BAINBRIDGE, Ga.) FLW Tour pro Buddy Gross of Chickamauga, Georgia, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 23 pounds, 7 ounces, Saturday to claim top honors at the Costa FLW Series Southeastern Division tournament on Lake Seminole presented by Mud Hole Custom Tackle. Gross’ three-day total of 15 bass weighing 64 pounds, 11 ounces, was enough to earn him $52,200.

Secretary Zinke recognizes the outdoor industry’s impact on our economy
(Mar 2, 2017 - Alexandria, VA)  Today, newly appointed Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke issued two Secretarial orders to expand access and recognize the impact that sportsmen and women have on the nation’s economy.

The first order advances conservation stewardship by directing Interior agencies such as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Park Service to identify areas where recreation and fishing can be expanded.
