The weather cooled down considerably from the 100+ temperatures that we have been experiencing just days before the tournament. A light wind kept all the anglers cooled off and the big fish seemed to know it too. The top water bite was unbelievable at this tournament.
Several teams reported losing some double digit bass at the boat or when they jumped just out of reach of the net.
The team of Spike Stoker and Justin Stone are no strangers to the winner’s circle and they blew the field away at this tournament! With a total two day weight of 47.94 pounds, they won by 8.56 pounds!! Their day one weight was anchored by the largest bass of the tournament that pushed the scales to 10.48 pounds. All fishing had to stop at 3:00 on day one and they caught this fish on their last cast of the day. Their day one weight was 30.34 and their day two weight was 17.60 pounds, making their average weight per day at almost 24 pounds! They also won the Angler Of The Year title for 2010 by only one point at our last tournament. They were able to take home $5,000 for the win.
The team of Greg Denison and David Markham came in second place with a total 10 fish weight of 39.38 pounds. They took home $3,270 for their great finish.
The team of Mike Hallford and Steve McCain finished in third place with a total 10 fish weight of 32.62 pounds. Their day one stringer was anchored by a beautiful 9.11 hawg. They took home a check for $2,580.
Faron McCain and James White took fourth place with a total weight of 31.70 and enjoyed taking home a $1,720 payday.
Stuart Jeffrey had the second largest bass of the tournament at 9.17 pounds.
We would sincerely like to thank all the teams for their excellent care of the fish that were brought to the scales. All the teams used Sure Life Labs” “Catch And Release” or “Please Release Me” in their live wells. Combined with ice to cool the live wells and cooled down holding tanks at the weigh-in line, this allowed us to only lose two fish out of the 232 fish that were brought to the scales. We believe that all tournaments must stress fish care to their entrants to help protect this resource.
We sincerely appreciate all of our sponsors that helped make this year so successful. These sponsors include Dobyn’s Rods, Hag’s Tornado Baits, Sure Life Labs, Talon Lures, Elm Creek Village, Breckenridge Chamber Of Commerce and Sandy Creek Marina. Someone took home an awesome Dobyn”s Rod and several bags of Hag”s Tornado Baits at each and every tournament. Without their great generosity and help, the 2010 season would not have been so successful.
We would also like to thank FishingWorld.com for their great website and reports that helped us get the news out to the world.
All those wishing to catch a fish of a lifetime should consider a trip to O.H. Ivie and enjoy the hospitality given by all the local marinas and motels to all those visiting.
We look forward to the 2011 season and ask anyone interested to please check out our website for further details.
