Team Scores a Bodacious Win at Islamorada’s Island Grill Tournament

ISLAMORADA, Florida Keys — On Father’s Day weekend, team Bodacious earned the $5,000 first place win at the sixth annual Island Grill Charity Dolphin Tournament, which benefits Baptist Children’s Hospital Cancer Center.

Anglers Tim Hampson of Tavernier, Fla., Mark Wheaton of Key Largo, Fla., and Mike Thaler from Palmetto, Fla., weighed in the tournament’s three biggest dolphin, an aggregate 54.8 pounds. They were led by Captain Henry Danzig of Tavernier.

Second place and a check for $1,000 went to Sue Riehlman and Peter Villiere, both from Tavernier, along with Weston, Fla., resident Dave Brasher and John Lewis from Pompano, Fla. Fishing aboard the Yank ‘Em with Islamorada’s Captain John Lewis, the team weighed in three dolphin totaling 46.4 pounds.

Captain Greg Eklund’s team aboard Cloud Nine took third place, with anglers Kim and Jim Grose of Acworth, Ga., fishing with friends Cheryl Coyne, also of Acworth, and Wood Long from Kennesaw, Ga. Their three dolphin fish totaled 39.0 pounds.

Jim Grose weighed in the biggest fish of the tournament’s men’s division, a 26.2-pounder.

Three anglers from Naples, Fla., earned the prizes for largest dolphin, ladies division; largest dolphin, junior division, and largest wahoo, respectively: Tammi Amberg’s fish weighed 25.8 pounds, Chase Bertucci brought in a 10.6-pound dolphin and Troy Rodkey landed a 13.8-pound wahoo.
