The West Texas Team Trail (WTTT) fished the final qualifying tournament of the season on beautiful Hubbard Creek Lake on June 6, 2010. The temperatures hovered around 100 degrees by the afternoon. But, the fish didn’t seem to realize it was too hot to bite.A light breeze helped the fishermen hang in there until the 3:00 weigh-in.
The team of Newsom & Seaberry were able to put a 7.57 pound kicker in the livewell to help propel them to first place with a commanding lead of 28.01 pounds.
Markham & Denison had a nice 6 pound kicker to balance out their awesome stringer to a total weight of 25.82 pounds and help them take home the second place check.
The team of brothers Mitchell and Michael Smith caught the big bass of the tournament with an 8.24 beauty.
We would also like to congratulate the team of Spike Stoker and Justin Stone on winning the 2010 Angler Of The Year award. They will fish for free in the 2011 season. They were able to catch a nice 3 1/2 pounder and a 6 pounder within 100 yards of the boat ramp and with only a few minutes left before check-in to cull out two small keepers and take third place. Those two fish helped them take the AOY award by only one point over the team of Starr & Rose.
Wesincerely want to thank Johnny Stoker and his crew at Sandy Creek Marina in Breckenridge for the use of their facilities for our weigh-in. It sure was nice to be under the shade of a large canopy for our weigh-in. Be sure and contact them for all your Triton and Phoenix boat needs.
