Reel McCoy Wins $25,000 Prize at IFC Captains Cup Tournament

-Veteran Islamorada captain George McElveen guided anglers Bobby Orr and Bobby Orr Jr., of Deerfield Beach, Fla., to the $25,000 first prize at the Islamorada Fishing Club Captains Cup Dolphin Tournament that ended June 3.

The team fished on the Reel McCoy and its three heaviest fish totaled 54.8 pounds for the win.

Second place went to Rarin’ to Go. Anglers Randy Richmond of Key Largo, Fla., and Islamorada’s Jerry Richmond, with Captain Dirk Reich at the helm, weighed in a total of 47.6 pounds of dolphin.

Third place went to the charter boat Yank ‘Em, with anglers Alan Adrosky and Peter Valliere of Tavernier, Fla., totaling 39.2 pounds of dolphin. They were guided by Captain John Lewis.

The tournament is a qualifier for entry into the 2011 IGFA Offshore World Championship.
