The New York BASS Chapter Federation (NYBCF) is pleased to announce their 2010 tournament trail kicks off on Lake Champlain launching out of Ticonderoga. The season opener is scheduled to host 114 boats bringing 228 anglers and a 10-man tournament support staff into the area beginning June 16th in preparation for Sunday’s tournament. Morning launch starts approximately 6 a.m. with the afternoon weigh-in beginning at 2 and running until 3:30 pm. Media interested in covering the event are welcome to attend morning launch or the afternoon weigh-in.

The tournament format will pair boaters and non-boaters for an eight hour competition day as anglers search for the heaviest five fish limit of bass. The payback is 100% of all tournament entry fees (boater $125 and non-boater $75) to their respective division’s prize payouts. The first place boater will take home a $2,500 check, while the first place non-boater will earn $1,500. There’s also a Bass Pro Shops Lunker prize for the big bass winner from each division, providing two lucky anglers a shot at $400 cash and $250 in Bass Pro Shop Merchandise. In addition to those prizes, the NYBCF tournament trail provides plenty of opportunities for anglers to earn contingency money payouts through several programs: Triton’s Federation Nation Alliance, BASS Pro Shops Tournament Rewards, Skeeter Real Money, BASS CAT Quest and the Professional Anglers Association (PAA) Payday Program.

The NYBCF also continues to set aside money at a rate of $100 per event for any angler that is able to break the NYBCF single day heavy weight record of 23.02 lbs, set by Noel Good in 2007. That award is worth an additional $700 and still growing.

The NYBCF will also provide all bass weighed in for a special sampling survey conducted by the Lake Champlain Sea Grant and Lake Champlain Research Institute, lead by Mr. Mark Malchoff.
