Mo Smith Sweeps Top Honors at Baybone Tournament

For the second consecutive year, Mo Smith of Cordova, Tenn., was named grand champion angler at the Baybone Celebrity Tournament that ended Oct. 3.

Smith, fishing the two-day challenge with Captain Mark Krowka of Islamorada, Fla., released 11 bonefish, the tournament’s most releases for one angler, and four permit, with one registering as the tournament’s largest.

With teammate Frank Delucas of Plantation, Fla., Smith went on to win the team grand championship as well.

Bonnie Christ of Alexandria, Va., fishing with Captain Andy Thompson, secured the ladies’ grand championship.

A top celebrity angler honor was not awarded.

Anglers on 13 boats competed in the tournament, racking up 43 bonefish and 24 permit releases.

The Baybone was the second 2010 tournament in the Redbone Celebrity Tournament trilogy, following the Sept. 10-12 S.L.A.M. in Key West. The trilogy concludes with the Redbone, scheduled Nov. 5-7 in Islamorada waters.
