MCE Television Networks, Inc, the producer of the Water Channel television and Club Blue shopping network, continues to fill its ranks with experienced marine industry veterans. The company has announced that C. Gordon Houser has been named the national sales manager for fishing products.
Houser is considered one of the marine industry’s most effective business development leaders. He has been recognized by the New York Times and Advertising Age for his creative marketing. During the years he served as its marketing vice president, Chris Craft was the industry’s leading boat builder. Following that, Houser guided the high performance boat market first as president and CEO of Donzi Marine, then as head of the Scarab division of Genmar’s Wellcraft Corp.
Houser’s experience extends beyond the marine industry. He has been active in both the publishing and film industries. He served the magazine divisions of CBS and Petersen Publishing before recently taking on the role of Associate Publisher to develop a new book, Fish Boats Registry. A long-time consultant to the motion picture industry, Houser has worked with films from On Golden Pond to the more recent Columbia Pictures movie Striking Distance. He was instrumental in the development of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism “Spring Fling” Boating Experience and still finds time to serve on numerous industry boards and committees.
Today, in addition to his responsibilities to the Water Channel, Houser is the managing director of the Ultimate Backwater Fishing School in Pineland, Fla., a resort-based, three-day school for those who want an outdoor learning experience without having to rough it.
The Water Channel and Club Blue launch this week on the Dish Network, initially reaching approximately 12 million homes. The company will expand its reach in 2006 with Time Warner and Cox Cable increasing the network’s homes to 32 million.
MCE also has partners in Asia with plans to launch the Water Channel and Club Blue in Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and parts of Mainland China.
