Dean Meier of Maple Grove, Minnesota took a fourth place finish in the MInnesota State Lottery Pro/AM Bass tournament held on Gull Lake this past June 14-16. Dean used a new bait bearing his name produced by the Osseo, Minnesota based fishing tackle manufacturer, Thunderbullets, Inc.to find fish on the weedy flats of this popular resort area lake.
“I didn’t catch my fish in the tournament on the Thunderspin, but it sure helped me find them im practice,” Dean says. “The fish on tournament day just needed a slower presentation.”
The Thunderspin with Dean Meier Drop Arm is a product of a collaborative effort between Meier and John Wicht, Jr. the President of Thunderbullets incorporated. “The important feature of this bait is it’s ability to keep the blades turning, even when you stop your retrieve. It sure makes a difference in my ability to get extra bites.” Meier continues.
This tournament is the second in a series of 5 tournament bringing big time bass fishing to this state. Tournament fishing is growing at a feverish rate around the country and Minnesota is no different. This tournament trail is attracting such notable sponsors as the Minnesota State Lottery, GMAS, Chevy Trucks, Hormel Foods and even our own Minnesota Timberwolves. These tournaments are presented on the Midwest Sports Channels with the first of the series drawing ratings just short of the first game of the Stanely Cup Hockey Finals.
