Growing up in the Dallas – Fort Worth area, we loved going to the great hang-out spots on the area lakes like Sneaky Pete’s on Lake Lewisville and my favorite, the Oasis on Joe Pool Lake. There was pretty much a cool place on every lake in the area. Any excuse for celebration, these were the places we met up with friends to enjoy the food, nightlife, and the views of lake.
Around 15 years ago, I moved to the Tyler area and built a home on Lake Palestine eager to enjoy the lake experiences I had growing up. Much to my dismay, Lake Palestine had no great hang-out places like I had known. So for years, I have waited for someone to see this opportunity and open a cool place on the Lake.
Well the wait is finally over! The Villages Resort Marina on Lake Palestine has seen the need and is ready to give us Lake Lovers a place to hang. With their new expanded Grill and beautiful deck overlooking the lake, they are ready to create the fun atmosphere we have all been waiting for.
The Villages Resort has always been known for being open to time-share members and homeowners only, but what some don’t know is that with the addition of their year-round water park and now the Marina Grill, the public is welcome to come enjoy these beautiful facilities.
To launch things off, the new Villages Marina Grill has announced the grand opening with a full day of celebration. From 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, families are invited to come enjoy the lake with fishing, a rock climbing wall, bungee trampoline, obstacle course and free kayak and paddle boat rentals. Then from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, the real kick-off party starts with a live disc jockey, door prizes and free food every hour. This event will also be a Pre-PALOOZA fund raiser for the Humane Society of East Texas.
On May 26th, the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, The Villages Marina will again host the 5th annual Lake Palestine PALOOZA to benefit the Humane Society of East Texas. This event is the biggest lake party in our area with live bands, great food and a lot of fun stuff on the lake to benefit a really worthy cause. This year promises some big national recording artist like Cady Groves whose new video “This Little Girl” features Blake Shelton. Also recently announced to preform is The Cab, Outasight, Adam Brown and the Triple Crown Band and Somebody’s Darling. Admission to this event is free with a donation to the Humane Society.
From Tyler, The Villages Resort Marina is south on Highway 155 to 2661 west at Brookshires, with a left on Big Eddy Road which will dead end into the Marina.
