Two great Johnson shapes, the Silver Minnow and the SlimFish are now available in miniature versions of the originals. The new Silver Minnow weighs a mere 1/16-ounce and measures just 1-1/8 inches. The SlimFish now has two small offerings with the 1/16-ounce bait measuring 1-1/4 inches and the 1/8-ounce option that is 2-1/2 inches long.
The Silver Minnow’s patented design has been a mainstay in tackle boxes for decades. The miniature Silver Minnow conforms to every design element of the original that every angler recognizes. The brass spoon construction includes the stainless steel hook and weed guard. Known as the “Weedless Wonder”, the Silver Minnow glides through grass effortlessly without hanging up, except on the fish’s lips. The 1/16-ounce Silver Minnow is equipped with a #9 Nickel hook.
The SlimFish was introduced a year ago and was an instant success with its built in fins and unusual shape causing the erratic swimming motion. No two retrieves will ever be alike with this bait. Previously available in 1/4- to 2-ounce weights, the two new smaller options give anglers even more range in their angling portfolio. The 1/16-ounce long SlimFish measures 1 1/8 inches long and is equipped with #12 black nickel hooks with #1 stainless steel split rings. The 1/8-ounce size is 1 3/4 inches long and comes with #10 black nickel hooks and #2 stainless steel split rings
Both baits are ideal for panfish, trout and ice fishing. Another tactic for these baits is trolling, especially when using a canoe or other small craft and either paddling or letting the wind drift the canoe over productive water. Add a trailer to the Silver Minnow for added action.
