A friendly reminder that the very important Launch Event for the Cherokee Neches State Paddling Trail is next Saturday, October 17. We will have a short ceremony beginning at 11:00 am at the put-in location at Neches River Run Park, 2001 CR 3315, Jacksonville (riverrunpark.com). The community partner is the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce (http://www.jacksonvilletexas.com/).
We are planning a hamburger lunch and then you may paddle the Cherokee Neches Trail or part of it. I paddled the entire eight miles trail last week and with the low flow of the River, the entire trail could be difficult. If you make arrangements with Neches River Run Park they could take you out at locations along the trail.
