Bobby & Jeanne Rains worked crankbaits to profection to win

With a new year underway the CAST couples enjoyed the reunion with old friends and the opportunity to meet some new ones. Pam greeted each couple with a ditty bag with a Mister Twister bait, pins, note pads and information on Brownwood Lake for the Championship.

Bobby and Jeanne Rains alarm clock put them on the road at 3 AM to arrive in San Angelo at 6:30 am and started what turned out to be a great day on the lake with 3 fish weighing 9.19 lbs. and taking first place money and a great J-Ann plaque.

1st Bobby & Jeanne Rains 9.19 lbs. & 100 pts
2nd Frank & Brandi Mixon 3.92 lbs. & 99 pts
3rd Dennis & Janet ODell 1.01 lbs. & 98 pts.

For the first time in the CAST WEST history we have all the couples still in the top six after the first tournament.

Lake Nasworthy had no bite for most of the couples and left us tied with our 25 show points. There is always next month at Lake Amistad where I will predict that all the couples will weigh fish. We will headquarter at Amistad Lodge with registration from 5pm till 6pm on Saturday March 13th, and launch at Diablo East Ramp at safe light on Sunday the 14th.

If you know additional couples that would enjoy the fun and fellowship be sure and invite them to join us at Amistad.

Pam and I would like to say a big THANK-YOU to the couples that furnished door prizes and a special thanks to Field and Streams Sporting Goods for hosting the sign-up in their store. Dalton and Carrie Cooley you guys make the tournaments run so smooth thank you for your help.

Let’s remember the Brownwood Open Tournament April 4th and the Special Olympics Tournament on Ivie March 20th.
