Sam Rayburn is 161.48 and still falling. The water temperature has been
in the low to mid 80s. The water has been clear to around 2ft with a
slight algae tint in some places. As you move up the rivers it has a
darker stain .
This week has been tuff for a lot of folks because of the blue skies.
The best bite has been early on top water baits. The Stanley Ribbit Frogs
has been producing the best, working it over the matted grass and around
the shoreline. Colors seem to change from day to day so have a bunch of
different ones on hand to pick from. Stanley has some new colors coming
out so be sure to look for them.
The Pop -Rs , Torpedo's and Yellow Magic's have been good on some days.
I would like to let you in on some new baits that I've been using with
good results. They are the Sebile Baits. They make a full line of hard
baits and Bass Strike Tackle in Zavalla has a great select ion of them.
Stop by and take a look at them.

As the morning bite dies off, I've been backing off and working a Texas
Rigged worm in the creeks and off the points. I will use a light color if
the water is clear and it is sunny and a darker color if the water is
strained or it's cloudy. There have been a few bites on crankbaits in
the 6 to 12 foot range. Don't forget the Whacky Worn when the bite gets
really tough. Slow your approach and see if that will get the fish to
bite.
There are a lot of schooling fish around the bridge that can be a lot of
fun to chase down. The best bait I have found is a chrome or gold spoon.
Toss it out there amongst them and pump it back to the boat.
I'll have the web page up for the Bass Class on the Water that will be
running thru the fall into early spring and covers a lot of information.

Lowrance 112 LCX with the latest software to help you see the lake like
you have never seen it before. Everyone is welcome.

The Crappie seem to be moving in some so I look for the fishing to pickup
in the next few weeks. The bite will continue to change as the weather
becomes more unsettled. Look for them to move to the bridges and river
channels in the next few months.
