Have you ever heard the old saying that everything is BIG in Texas. Well not Everything unless you are talking about Big Bass- - 18.18 lbs. 17.67 lbs, 17.64 lbs, 17.63 lbs, 17.63 lbs, 17.23 lbs. These are the Top Five Weighings in the State of Texas as of 1999, and Guess What, they were all caught on Lake Fork!
It takes a fish over 15 lbs to be in the Top 50, 38 of the Top 50 came from Lake Fork. Lake Fork is located 90 miles east of Dallas and 17 miles south of Sulphur Springs on Highway 154. Lake Fork has a 16 to 24 inch slot limit. This means that all fish in the slot have to be released. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department stocked the lake with Florida strain bass, and they continue to stock the lake. Hydrilla, timber and other bass holding habitat covers the lake. Catch and Release is practiced here daily as a result this lake will continue to produce Trophy Bass.
