Toledo Bend - TX,Huxley
Fishing Report
The lake has been holding steady just below 168 msl the last couple weeks with no generation and very little rain. Temps are running in the mid 70s and the water is slightly stained on the very north end of the lake and clearing as you go south (high winds will churn the shallow areas).
The black bass have really taken off the last week with the cooler weather. Good reports in numbers and size coming in from numerous anglers. A number of lures are putting the fish in the boat. Texas and CR rigged plastics putting the better fish in the boat when fished off the river channel ledges and drops. Also early morning and late evening work top -water plugs, spinner baits, traps and shallow diving crank- baits off the main lake and secondary points.
The Whites and the Crappie have also picked up with the cooler water. The Whites are holding on the main river channel sand bars. Work slab spoons and tail spinners and keep a trap or top water plug handy if they start schooling. Also work the main river channel drops and ledges over brush tops with live shiners and jigs for the Crappie.
