Toledo Bend - TX,Huxley
Toledo Bend weekly report

The lake is 163.10 msl, high pool is 172 msl, almost nine feet low. Water temp is running in the mid 60s to low 70s. The north end of the lake is stained from high winds and clearing as you go south. Extreme caution should be used running the lake even in marked boat lanes due to the low water conditions.

This weeks cold front that passed through has dropped the water temperature and the fishing has been excellent across the board. Good reports of Black bass, White Bass, Crappie and Catfish have been coming in by most fishermen venturing out.

The Shelby County Bass Club had it’s championship tournament last weekend and the conditions were extremely tough with the high winds and strong cold front that passed through but a nice thirty pound five fish stringer was brought to the scales.

Most my black bass have been coming off C.R. rigged soft plastics in watermelon flavors and black/blue jigs. Mid to deep diving crank baits are also producing some fish. The river ledges and drops have been the most productive. Big limits of White Bass being caught on ½ to ¾ silver slab spoons on river channel sandbars. The bite has either been early in the morning or late evening but once they start feeding you can limit out in no time. The crappie are bunching up on river channel brush tops, shiners working best.

Looks like we’re in for a banner Crappie, Bass and White Bass fall season this year with the low water conditions and if the lake remains stable.
