Toledo Bend report
The lake level is 167.34 msl, and falling (like a rock). High pool is 172 msl. SRA reporting both generators running from 12pm to 8pm. Water temp is running in the 80s. The water clarity on the north end of the lake is stained to clear. Caution should be taken running the lake.
Most anglers have been singing the blues reporting “tuff” fishing conditions and a slow bite, however, you couldn’t tell that to Richard and Pat Miller who brought to the scales five fish weighing 33 lbs with a 10 lb kicker in the Bass N Bucks tournament last weekend. Most of the better catches were on Texas or Carolina rigged soft plastics by sitting in deep water throwing shallow or sitting in shallow water throwing deep off river ledges, creek channels or main lake ridges dropping into deep water sloughs from 8 to 20 ft.
The White Bass have really been finicky the last couple weeks and have been moving all over the lake. While working the main lake river channel sand bars with slab spoons and tail spinners we can load the boat up one day and scratch out the next. Schooling activity on the north end of the lake has slowed way down while good reports of schooling activity have been reported in the mid lake area. Keep a top water plug, trap or shallow diving crank bait handy if they start schooling.
Crappie: Some good reports on Crappie being caught in 16 to 25 ft of water over planted brush. Better catches early in the morning and slowing down as the day heats up. Shiners working best. .
