Toledo Bend - TX,Huxley
Toledo Bend Fishing Report
The lake level is 169.52 msl, and falling. High pool is 172 msl. SRA reporting both generators running from 2 to 8pm. Water temp is running in the 80s. The water clarity on the north end of the lake is stained to clear.
Black Bass: Some heavy 20 lb stringers have been coming to the scales in recent tournaments held on the lake the last couple weeks with a number of patterns putting fish in the boat. Early morning and late evening work shallow areas close to deep water around lily-pads, pepper grass and submerged hydrilla with top water plugs, buzz baits, frogs, spinner baits and finesse plastics. Main lake and secondary points falling into deep water, especially when the wind is blowing, are also holding some decent fish. Mid to deep diving crank baits and Carolina or Texas rigged soft plastics working best. On the north end of the lake a lot of the bigger fish have moved to the ledges and drops along the old river channel. Concentrate on the points and bends or where creeks and ditches dump into the river. Deep diving crank baits, Carolina or Texas rigged soft plastics and jigs working best.
White Bass: The recent weather pattern with numerous thunder storms have scattered the Whites this week and the schooling activity has slowed way down from what it has been. Slab spoons and tail spinners working best in 13 plus foot of water on sand bars and shallow diving crank baits and traps working best when schooling.
Bream: Most of the bream on the north end of the lake have moved off the beds and are moving back into deep water. For best results find an old bed and back out to the first drop falling into deep water. Work your trolling motor up and down the drop and very the depth on your line to locate the bream.
Crappie: Some good reports on Crappie being caught in 16 to 25 ft of water over planted brush at the mouth of the creeks and coves leading to the main lake. Shiners working best. .
