TOLEDO BEND GUIDE SERVICE
Toledo Bend is the largest man made resevoir in the south covering over 186,000 acres, 1200 miles of shoreline, running 80 miles long.
I operate out of Huxley, TX on the north end of the lake, which is approximately 20 miles east of Center, Texas and 20 miles south of Logansport, LA. It is 1 hour from Shreveport, LA, 3 1/2 from Dallas or Houston, and 4 from Lafayette, LA. Many feel the north end of the lake is the premiere fishing area, in that the majority of the tournaments are won with fish coming from the north end of the lake.
I have fished Toledo Bend since its inception in the early sixties, live on the lake, and have been a full-time licensed guide since 1993 spending over 200 days a year fishing Toledo Bend. I specialize in fishing for black bass year round. The limit is eight bass per person with a 14 inch minimum length.
I also fish for crappie, white bass, and bream. The crappie season begins in the middle of October and runs through January. We have a creel limit of 50 crappie per person per day with two pounders not being unusual. The white bass run starts in mid February and runs through mid April with plenty of schooling action in the summer. The creel is 25 per person per day. The bream spawn starts in April and runs through June.
I operate a 20' Skeeter Bay Boat and can accommodate 4 guests comfortably. Pontoon fishing trips are also available. Guests are encouraged to bring their own equipment, although tackle/equipment can be furnished. Contact me a few days prior to your trip and I'll tell you the most productive baits to bring or the marina has a good supply of tackle. Whether you are a novice just learning to fish or a professional looking for tournament fish, I'll try my best to accommodate your fishing needs.
I'll be happy to provide you with information on lodging available for any size group...from luxurious private lodges to moderately priced accommodations. I can also arrange for additional guides and transportation if you fly into Center, TX by private plane. Corporate groups are welcome and I will try to provide your group with any specific needs you may request (customized tackle packs etc.).
TOLEDO BEND LAKE COTTAGE
The Cottage has two bedrooms, two baths, living room with fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, outdoor grill, bar area, satellite TV, central air/heat, and a covered porch overlooking the lake. There is a breakfast table for four in the kitchen, a dining table for six in the living area, and stools at the bar. One bedroom has a king-size bed and a set of bunk beds, and the other bedroom has a queen-size bed and a set of bunks. There is a single daybed for the "snorer" in the utility room and a large sofa in the living room. Two covered stalls provide space to park your car or boat, and adjacent to the Cottage is a boat ramp for your use. The Cottage can accommodate six comfortably and has just about every convenience you have in your home, including a microwave, washer and dryer.
Catered meals for large groups from simple to gourmet are also available (menu available upon request). There is a nice family restaurant 5 miles away at Huxley Bay Marina that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
