Welcome to Ricky's Guide Service

One of the great things about keeping a log of your fishing trips is being able to go back to it and see what the fish were doing in any given month and start your next trip using the same pattern. This has paid off for me MANY times in the past and I am certain it will pay off again. A lot of people come to East Texas each year from out of town, out of state and even from other countries to take part in some of, if not the best, bass fishing in the world. Now, nothing beats an up to date fishing report, which we also have, but when that is not available logs from previous trips are hard to beat! I have compiled a condensed version of my logs that detail the patterns that I have seen time and again on these lakes. Click on the month that you are interested in to see what the fish should be doing when you get here.

Lake fork - TX,Quitman
December fishing on Lake Fork
Lake Fork fishing at this time good .You will find Lake Fork near the full stage, clear and with the surface temps ranging in the mid to upper 60's. Bass are good in the shallows on spinner baits, rattle traps, wacky worms and small crank baits. The best aereas will be where you find grass beds of some sort.Fish slow for best results. You can also find bass in the deep water on the ridges such as old road ways, humps, ridges such as small hills that ran off points or just high places in the contour of the land. You can find bass in these places on jigging spoons, deep diving crank baits and carrolina rigs.Again fish very slow for best results. Now if Crappie are a favorite of yours then you will be in Crappie heaven because lake Fork is probbaly one of the very best Crappie lakes around. At this time we have no size limmit and you can keep the first 25 you catch. The Parks and Wildlife take the 10inch limmit off Crappie decmber through febuary because so many die from being caght in such deep water. At this time you can catch your limmits in about 24 feet of water on brush piles and under the bridges on both jigs and minnows. Another great eating fish we have is the Bar fish or yellow bass. They don't get very big but you talking fun to catch on light tackle and you can find them in the deep water where you find bass. If you want to come to lake Fork and need a place to stay or a guide the give me a shalt. You can email me at Ricky@rickysguideservice.com or call me (home-903-763-0297 or cell-903-530-2201 , call early for best dates.
