01/19/2004 Eufaula - AL, Lake Eufaula in South Eastern Alabama Bass Fishing has become a challenge as we look for a day now and then that will make for a descent day on the water. Several warm days have made the bass move up some and become a little more active. Water levels are down from last report but still above normal winter pool. Slow moving lures are going to produce better than the faster action. Crappie are really beginning to move up and the action is great. At night if you drive over the bridges and causeways in the area they are lit up like a football field. Minnows and jigs are the main bait. The visitors are showing up now and the daytine crappie fishermen are doing well too. Catfish are always ready to eat if you are willing to sit in the cold wind. Worms and cut bait are good. Remember to respect the cold, windy weather. Dress warm and take plenty to drink. Keep the children in lifejackets, cold water is very dangerous.
