Anglers Quest 2012 Sam Rayburn Individual Series #8 out of The Umphrey Pavilion in Sam Rayburn, Tx began this event with 9 anglers showing up to fish for the $765.00 purse. This 8th event of 2012 was started as a trailoring event at 6:15 am. The weigh in time was conducted at 3:30 pm. Any Individual entering 6 of the 8 Individual series at Sam Rayburn automatically qualified for the 2-day Rayburn Individual Championship. The top Individual in points after all 8 events, Clayton Boulware from Zavalla, Tx was declared the Angler of the Year and will be awarded free entries to all 2013 Rayburn Individual Series events. Clayton's AOY win this year was all possible through Nitro/Mercury, Pradco's Bomber fat free shad cranks, H&H, Revo, Bass Pro Shops, Motorguide, Dusty Rhodes Marine.
The Individuals entering all 8 Rayburn Individual series events will automatically qualify for all 3 of the Lakes Individual Series 2-day Championships. Any Individual qualifying for any A/Q Championship will be allowed to enter the "Tournament of Champions" on October 20-21 at Lake Falcon.
Sam Rayburn water was in good shape at about 1 ft below normal pool level with water temps ranning 90-92 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 77 degrees with a warming to 94 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was a bit slow for most on Big Sam today as there were only 4 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 25 bass at 53.68 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.14 lb.
Jody Norsworthy from Brookeland, Tx ran his bass rig to mid lake points over brush to catch his bass throwing tx rigged worms in 18-25 ft of water. Jody also had the big bass of the day at 4.60 lbs. Jody managed to catch 7 keepers to finish in 1st place with 14.55 lbs and made himself $500.00 for his day on the water.
Jeff Wise from Lufkin, Tx ran his bass rig to north lake creeks to finish his day in 2nd with 5 bass at 10.84 lbs and collected $220.00. Kenneth Conkle from Port Neches, Tx finished in 3rd with 5 bass at 9.31 lbs. Corbett Ross from Port Neches, Tx finished in 4th with 5 bass at 8.92 lbs.
