Anglers Quest 2012 Sam Rayburn Saturday Series #8 out of The Umphrey Pavilion in Sam Rayburn, Tx began this event with 56 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $3640.00 purse. This 8th event of 2012 was started as a trailoring event at 6:15 am. The weigh in time was conducted at 4:00 pm. Any Team entering 6 of the 8 saturday series events at Sam Rayburn automatically qualified for the 2-day Rayburn Team Championship. The top Team in points after all 8 events, were declared the Anglers of the Year and were awarded free entries to Rusty Clark & Cory Rambo 2013 Rayburn Saturday Series events. The Teams entering all 8 Rayburn Saturday Series events automatically qualified for all 3 of the Lakes Saturday Series 2-day Championships. Anyone qualifying for any A/Q Championship will be allowed to enter the "Tournament of Champions" on October 20-21 at Lake Falcon.

Sam Rayburn water was in good shape at 1 ft below normal pool level with water temps ranning 90-92 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 76 degrees with a warming to 97 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was decent on Big Sam today as there were 9 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 72 bass at 184.82 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.56 lb.

The Team of Chris McCall from Brookeland, Tx & Clayton Boulware from Zavalla, Tx ran Clayton's Nitro/Mercury bass rig to mid lake areas to catch their limit of bass and bring 19.48 lbs to the scales to claim 1st place. They collected $1500.00 for their day on the water. Chris & Clayton wanted to thank Santone Lures for their football headed jig & Bomber fat free shad cranks that made it possible for them to win today using their Tour Star & H&H rods & Revo reels spooled with 20lb flurocarbon line in 2-7 ft of water. They also wanted to thank all their sponsors, Pradco, Bass Pro Shops, Motorguide, Dusty Rhodes Marine, Mercury, Legend, Evinrude, Gambler & The Tackle Monkey.

Rusty Clark from Sam Rayburn, Tx & Cory Rambo from Orange, Tx ran Cory's new Ranger/Yamaha from Premier Yamaha Boats in Beaumont, Tx to north lake areas to catch their bass throwing c-rigged worms & lizards along with top water River2Sea proto-type pop n frogs in 1-8 ft of water. They managed to cull from 20 keepers to finish in 2nd place with 18.43 lbs for the win and made them $750.00 for their day on the water. The team of Larry Weppler from Houston & Dennis Fikes from Kingwood ran their Skeeter/Yamaha bass rig to north lake areas to catch their bass throwing c-rigs in 8-20 ft of water. They managed to cull several times to finish in 3rd with 15.06 lbs and made $550.00 for their day on the water.

Rusty Harvey from Nederland, Tx ran his bass rig to north lake areas to probe the ditches, drains & points with grass to bring 14.55 lbs to the scales. Rusty finished in 4th and took home $350.00. Johnny McKee & Charles Maclin finished in 5th with 12.46 lbs and also had the Big Bass of the event at 6.11 lbs to collect $350.00 for their day on the water.
