(Jun. 14, 2009 - Lake Livingston Onalaska, TX)... Anglers Quest 2009 Livingston Saturday Series #7 out of Kickapoo Bait & Tackle in Onalaska, TX began this event with 82 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $5530.00 purse.
The event began at safe light, which was 5:40 am. Weigh in was conducted at 3:15 pm. This Livingston Saturday Series after all 9 events will provide the Team Anglers of the year with free entries to all 2010 Livingston Saturday Series events. The Top 25 teams in pounds will qualify for the 2-day Championship on September 26-27 on Lake Livingston.
Anglers Quest will take a special Top 5 group of teams from each A/Q series to the "Tournament of Champions" to be held on November 14-15 on Lake Bob Sandlin and will pay a minimum of $10,000.00 to the winning team. All Anglers Quest Championships include Calcutta auctions which builds the Championship purse to some very nice $$ to fish for, for a very small entry fee of $155.00 per team.
Lake Livingston water was in good shape and a 1/4 foot above normal pool level with water temps ranning 78-80 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a windy 77 degrees with a warm up to 96 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was very good on Livingston today as there were 29 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 162 bass at 464.82 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.86 lb.
The current leaders of the Anglers of the Year team of Morgan Burton & Randy McAdams from Livingston, Tx ran their Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to mid lake creek areas to finish in 1st with their best 5 bass that tipped the scales at 21.72 lbs. With this great catch today using Tx rigged worms in 3-8 ft water they extended their lead for the Angler of the Year in this Livingston Saturday Series. Morgan & Randy’s day on the water paid back $1770.00 for their efforts.
The team of Wade Ellis & Toby Hartsell from Livingston, Tx ran their Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to Kickapoo creek areas to finish in 2nd with their best 5 bass out of 20 that tipped the scales at 19.84 lbs. Wade & Toby’s day on the water payed back $970.00 for their efforts.
The team of Curtis Jordan from Baytown, Tx & Larry Kitchens from New Caney, Tx ran Curtis’s VIP/Mercury bass rig to the south end of the lake to throw spinner baits around visible cover in 1-10 ft water to bring in 5 bass at 19.37 lbs to garner 3rd place and collect $795.00 for their day on the lake. Curtis & Larry reported a great day on the lake catching at least 20-25 keepers. Curtis & Larry also wanted to give some Thanks to their new sponsor "Jordans Bait & Tackle".
The team of Joey Martin from Moscow, Tx & Andrew Y’Barbo from Groveton, Tx ran Andrew’s Ranger/Yamaha bass rig north to undisclosed creeks. They used their new Skeleton Castaway rods tipped with Stanley & Santone jigs to flip with into visible cover in 2-6 ft water to bring in 5 bass at 17.79 lbs to garner 4th place and collect $525.00 for their day on the lake.
The father & son team of Chip & Brian Sewell from Coldspring, Tx ran their BassCat/Mercury bass rig to south lake creek areas to catch their bass using Tx rigged worms & jigs/craw worms. They finished in 5th place with a limit of bass that tipped the scales at 17.48 lbs to collect $350.00 for their efforts.
There were 8 checks today and we had some ZZ Lures sponsor product to give to 1st place out of the money today. The team of Jeff Rood & Ben Pope finished in the 1st place out of the money today with 15.59 lbs and took home the 2 bags of ZZ Lures. On June 20th Anglers Quest will be at Lake Conroe at El Dorado Jack’s for the 6th of 9 Conroe Saturday Series events. On June 21st A/Q will be on Sam Rayburn at Mill Creek Park for the 6th of 7 Super Team Series events.
