(Mar. 06, 2009 - Lake Quachita, AR)... Hoyt Akins and Doug Thompson topped 50 teams fishing the second Super Team tournament of the season by catching 5 bass that weighed 22.03 pounds. The wicked cold front that blew through the state on Saturday didn’t effect the bite for this event, as 3 teams brought in over 20-pounds and 23 five bass limits crossed the scales. Here’s how the top three teams caught their fish:1st - Hoyt Akins and Doug Thompson - 5 bass - 22.03 pounds - $2,500.00Hoyt and Doug fished grass points in the mid-lake area. They caught all of their bass on Norman DLNs and red rattletraps.2nd - Tony Nesterenko and Mike Mobley - 5 bass - 21.99 pounds - $1,200.00
Tony and Mike threw several different baits to catch their fish. Jigs, crankbaits, and rattletraps all put fish in the boat. Tony commented that they caught 10 bass over 4-pounds and 10 over 3-pounds! Sounds like a great day on the water!
3rd - Dennis Bean and Tracy Harmon - 5 bass - 20.92 pounds - $1,000.00Dennis and Tracy fished in the mid-lake area, where they threw Jewel Eakins’ Jigs (7/16 oz.; PB&J) in 15 - 20 feet of water to catch their bass.
