Scott and Julie Callaway won second place with their limit of five fish weighing 9.1 pounds. They received $50 and a plaque. Third place went to Dannie and Amy Golden with a five fish limit weighing 8.43 pounds. Fourth place went to Jesse and Kathy Timmons who brought in four fish weighing 8.28 pounds. Jesse caught the Men’s Big Bass with a nice 2.85 pound largemouth which he caught at noon on a Sweet Beaver. He received $31.50, a gift certificate from Brannan’s Bass Shop and a plaque. Congratulations. Kyle and Ann Johnson came in fifth. Ann won Ladies’ Big Bass with a long but skinny smallmouth bass weighing 3.01 pounds. This fish had been eating too much plastic! Ann reported catching it on a swimbait between 11 and 12. Ann received $31.50, a gift certificate from Brannan’s Bass Shop and a plaque. The side pot was split by the teams of Golden and Smith with each taking home $40. We want to welcome Tony and Kelly Smith who joined the North Region at this event. We look forward to fishing with them again in 2010. All teams fishing today’s event received a gift certificate from DoubleZZ Lures and a Columbia cap. The Angler of the Year changed significantly following last month’s event leaving Dannie and Amy Golden with a four point lead over Dan and Terri Jezek. With their win today in the final event of the season, the Jezeks gained two points on the Goldens but fell short in winning the title of 2009 Angler of the Year. Both Goldens and Jezeks enjoyed a good 2009 season in weighing a total of 29 fish during the season - only one fish less than what they could have weighed over the six tournaments. Congratulations to Dannie and Amy for winning the 2009 North Region’s title of Angler of the Year. Congratulations also to Dan and Terri for their good season. The Huffines loyalty prize was awarded at this tournament from the five teams which remained eligible at this final tournament - Golden, Jezek, Johnson, Anthony and Grigg. (Jesse and Kathy Timmons have fished all tournaments but did not qualify because they are the reigning Anglers of the Year for the North Region .) The winners of paid entry to the Championship at Lake Lewisville are Don and Shirley Anthony and Dannie and Amy Golden. Congratulations to our winners. Congratulations to the ten teams that have qualified for the Championship at Lake Lewisville in October. Kenny and Linda Wick will be sending our packets of information sometime in August. Let’s have this year’s winner from our region. Good luck to all. We have enjoyed the 2009 season and all our new and returning teams.
