(May. 05, 2009 - Lake Murray, OK)... Saturday, May 2, was rainy and cool but that did not stop eleven hardy teams from fishing on Lake Murray. A couple of ladies did throw in the towel early - one of which was still recovering from pneumonia - so it was a time to let the husbands show their fishing abilities by fishing alone. A lot of walleye and smallmouth were caught by our teams who reported using crankbaits, swim baits, and craw worms to catch their fish. All but one team brought a limit of fish to weigh in. Several teams reported losing keepers right at the boat when the fish jumped and shook off crankbaits. Better luck next time!

It was a hard fought battle in the rain with teams trying to put more than one two pounder in the boat. Dannie and Amy Golden came to the scales with the heaviest stringer weighing 8.46 pounds and containing Ladies Big Bass for the tournament. For their efforts, they took home $252 for First place and a plaque. Congratulations.

Second place went to Dan and Terri Jezek who brought in five fish weighing 8.05 pounds. For their efforts, they took home $168, and a plaque. Congratulations.

Third place was won by the team of Kyle and Ann Johnson with 8.03 pounds. Fourth place went to the current points leaders, Larry and Mary Lynn Wood with 7.19. Jesse and Kathy Timmons followed in fifth place with 7.08 pounds.

Amy Golden won Ladies’ Big Bass with a 2.21 pound fish. Scott Callaway won Men’s Big Bass with a nice 2.37 pound fish. They each took home $35, a gift certificate from Brannan’s Bass Shop and a plaque.

The side pot was split by the teams of Anthony and Waite with each taking home $55.

Again this year Huffines Jeep Chrysler Dodge of Lewisville is sponsoring a loyalty prize to two of our teams that have paid entry fees to all six of the North Region’s 2009 regular season tournaments. From those teams which qualify, two will be drawn and those two will receive their entry paid to this year’s Championship on Lake Lewisville.

We urge you to patronize and promote all our generous sponsors for the 2009 season including B C Steel Buildings, Brannan’s Bass Shop in Powderly, Gary Yamamoto Baits, Bill Lewis’ Rat-L-Trap lures, and Double ZZ Lures.

The next tournament is currently scheduled to be on Lake Texoma on Saturday, May 30 out of Lighthouse. It may be necessary to schedule to another lake since at this writing Texoma has risen 10 feet with the recent downpours and there is much floating debris. You will be notified in plenty of time if there is a change of lakes.

Whatever the location is on the 30th, we will start check in around 5:00 a.m. Safe light is projected as 5:50 a.m. and the tournament will begin at or close to that time - assuming safe weather conditions permit.

See you soon.
