(Oct. 16, 2009 - Lake Lewisville, TX)... Our Championship started out with brisk winds and wet Friday registration. We ended up with 38 paid teams, out of 67 qualifying couples. The City of Lewisville was very accommodating to all of our couples. Jeff & Laurie Jones had a very nice dinner for us. The Calcatta raised a total of $5,990.00 for the auction of the couples. Another $6,560.00 was paid in entries and monies through out the year, which made a total of $12,490.00 paid out.

Saturday we woke up to rain and cold weather. But all of the couples struggled through the wind, rain and cold weather with the top weight of 19.25 lbs brought in by Barry & Donna Merrill and second stringer of 15.12 lbs brought in by Dwain & Michelle Burns.

Men’s big bass for Saturday was caught by Barry Merrill with 4.97lbs. Ladies’ big bass for Saturday was caught by Donna Merrill with 5.25 lbs.

We had a great meal at the Banquet catered by Parma Pasta & Pizza from Lewisville. And everyone enjoyed the awards handed out to the anglers of the year for each region. We also enjoyed meeting Wanda Furgason with the Early Chamber of Commerce, and looking forward to Lake Brownwood in 2010.

Sunday we had rain and cold weather again. The race was on between the two top anglers from Saturday’sevent. Dwain & Michelle Burns pulling ahead with a 2nd day weightof 11.15 lbs. Barry & Donna Merrill just could not find the ones from the day before, so theirweight for the day was 3.58 lbs. That put Dwain & Michelle Burns Champion Anglers for the Year with a two day total of 26.27 lbs.

Men’s big bass for Sunday was caught by Dannie Golden with 5.39lbs. Ladies’ big bass for Sunday was caught by Peggy Strahan with 6.48lbs. Congratulation again.Kenny & I would like to say a special Thanks to all of our 2 of Us Families for standing by our side during these hard economic times. We are very proud to be a part of all of our family members.
