(Sep. 21, 2009 - Lake Waco, TX)... "Tough fishing for TuffMan" is how one fisherman described the conditions on Lake Waco this past weekend. 124 teams fished hard for the $2,500 first place money plus a chance to qualify for the Championship to be held on January 9th during the 36th Annual Central Texas Boat Show at the Bell County Exposition Center in Belton. This was also a point’s tournament where any weight of fish would have put the fishermen on the board, but only 58% of the teams were able to bring fish to the scales. And only 6 (5%) of these caught the 5 fish limit. Sixteen (13%) of the teams caught only one fish. There were 188 black bass weighed in for a total weight of 433.78 pounds giving an average fish size of 2.3 pounds. The fish were released back into Lake Waco.

First place was won by Team TTZ, James Roberts and Brian Burns of Austin, TX, weighing in 5 fish for a total weight of 17.08 pounds. Allen and Andrew McAdams of Waco, TX, won second place with a five fish limit of 16.75 pounds earning them $1,500. The 2009 TuffMan champions, John Guerra and Paul Stokes, both from Temple, TX, came in third with five fish at 16.25 pounds. They also had big bass at 6.85 pounds, winning them $1,994.
