(Oct. 10, 2009 - Lake Shafer, IN)... Lake Shafer was the site of the 2009 TVA Championship for day number one. Fifteen anglers gathered at Big Monon ramp in anticipation of doing well today. With Shafer being arguably the better lake in the series championship, everyone wanted to do well on day one.

Dave Coffing of Lafayette, In. nailed down the lead with 5 Bass weighing 11.12. In second was Jeff Vandergraff, of Monon, In. with 3 Bass weighing in 9.12. In third was Rod Coffing, of Monticello, In. with 3 Bass weighing 5.85. In fourth was Frank Brown of Kokmo, In. with 2 Bass weighing 4.93. In fifth was Tim Rodenbarger of Delphi, In. with 2 Bass weighing in at 4.20.

Sublettes Ribs of Monticello, In. was the site of our annual banquet and awards ceremony. The food and service was great as always, as well as the chance to get everyone together and enjoy the camaraderie.

Day 2 started off with better weather conditions and a little less wind. After a cold rain on day one. this was a welcome sight. Congratulations to Dave Coffing on holding down his lead with 3 Bass weighing 7.97., bringing his total weight to 19.09. Also Dave had Big Bass both days. In second was past TVA director and former AOY, Rod Coffing with 2 Bass weighing 4.79. His total weight tipped the scales to 10.69. In third was the comeback kid, Fuzzy Dunn of Crown, Point, In. with the only limit of the day. His 5 Bass weighed in at 8.84, bringing his total in at 10.59. Holding down fourth despite a poor second day was 2009 AOY, Jeff Vandergraff. His total weight was 9.12. Holding on to fifth after day one was Tim Rodenbarger with 1 nice Bass weighing 3.85. That brought his total to 8.05.

Congratulations to the top 5 anglers and to all of the qualifiers as well.

Thanks to our director, Bill Kelly for all of his hard work. Also thanks to all of the TVA sponsors and the members for your participation. Even in light of the tough economy we had good year and a great time. Our next event will be on Oct.11, 2009 at Lake Shafer. This will start the 2010 season. Good luck in the following year and we hope to see you there....
