(Oct. 02, 2009 - Montellico, IN.)... Lake Shafer was the site of the last TVA series qualifier for 2009. The fishing has been tough lately, with the lack of rain and current. Several anglers were still on the bubble to qualify for the TVA classic and the anticipation was running high.
Mark Randolph prevailed with a fine limit of smallmouth weighing in at 15.26. He also had big bass, with a 4.14 smallmouth. In second was Fuzzy Dunn of Crown Point, with 3 fish weighing in at 5.97. In third was Jess Funston of Hobart, with 2 fish at 5.69. In fourth was Fred Coleman, of Lafayette, with 2 fish weighing in at 4.85.
Jeff Vandergraff prevailed as the 2009 angler of the year. 15 anglers qualified for the no entry fee TVA classic on Oct. 3 and 4,2009. We will fish Shafer on the first day and Freeman on the second day. A banquet will held Saturday night, for dinner and an awards ceremony. Congratulations to the qualifiers and good luck.... |
