12-6-08 fish report
Reel um N Guide Service Owner Lynn Atkinson
Water Temp. 55 Water Clarity 2-3 feet 12/06/08 Sam Rayburn is at 156.89 ft the water temperature has been around 55 degrees. The water has been clear for the most part. I can’t tell you how much timber is moved around from Hurricane Ike. With the water level this low there is timber everywhere out there that you may not have seen in years. The worst ones are the floaters that are in one place one week and moved by the next front. When you out on the lake look at the ones that are on the banks now and remember, when the water comes up they will be moving around till they find a new home. So keep a close look out for them.
Saturday morning was a cold one with the air temperature in the low 30s, with the right gear on it wasn’t so bad. The boat ride was the worst. We had a little fog here and there to ease thru until we arrived at our first spot. We started off fishing a small drain offshore with some Crankbaits and Spinner bait’s. We had several short strikes before one hooked up and the fight was on. She felt like a good fish pulling drag and making a few runs before coming up and out of the water. At last I got my hands on her to bring her aboard the boat for a few quick pictures before releasing her for someone else to catch. We didn’t stay to long because we where just checking a few places to see if the fish where still holding there. This is the time of year that can be tough with the bite changing from one day to the next. One day you find them chase traps or Spinner baits and the next day they want a slow moving Texas or Carolina Rig. Some days the bite will be up shallow the next day it will be offshore. With the lake low now’s the time to get out and look around to see how things look. In the next few months there will be some very large fish caught on Sam Rayburn and learning new places to look for them is always a good idea. If you need some help give me a call.
The Crappie have been moving up river. We are booking trips for the springs so don’t wait to long. Round up your friends and get your trip booked. We can handle up to 10 anglers on the pontoon.
If you haven’t heard about The Bass Class on the water check it out on the website and give me a call. Come on down and learn some new tricks that will put fish in your boat.
