Sam Rayburn is at 156.88 ft and has been slowly fallin' a little thru out
the week. The water temperature has been around 65 degrees. The water has
been murky in places from the north wind that blew in on Tuesday.
Sam Rayburn is LOW !!!!!!! Over 7.5 ft LOW. I can't put into words how
dangerous it is to run around the lake in areas that you have run before. I
have seen a lot of boats run aground and tear things up. If you have never
been here before you might want to hire a guide. Let him show you how to
get around and few good places to fish. It could save you sometime and
money.
Now; for the fishing report. We've been out several times this week. One
trip up river we found a lot of fish holding close to cover in the stained
water. The best fish where caught in the lip on the right side. No I can't
pull your leg that hard, the best fish were around the mouths of the creeks
in 6 to 12 ft of water. Coming back down the river the pattern changed and
the fish were holding closer to the grass edges from 2 to 12 ft. Several
different baits were used to catch these fish and will be in the tips and
tidbits page. On Tuesday we went out to get wet and catch a few more fish,
about 15 in all. The best one weighed around 4.5 lbs. I know a bad day
fish is better than a good day at work, or that's what they say. It was to
rough to fish a lot of my good spots and look for another 10.02 like the
one caught a few weeks back. We still had a great time on the water
fishing when we could. As the water continues to cool down even more you
should see a lot of fish moving in to fatten up for winter. So don't just
sit at home and let the beautiful days pass you by, get your trips booked
now.
I know the report is late but we've been working on a new data base to
update the old fishing reports. There are 3 years of reports that will be
available in the next few days with pictures of the week. This is a lot of
info for the hard core angler to use to help get an idea of what the fish
may be doing at any given time. There will be little tips and tidbits on
fishing Sam Rayburn there also.

The City of Warsaw is out of the water on the south side. I have had a lot
of folks asking where that is. This may help you in finding it. If you're
running up the lake and you go under the 147 bridge to the long cut up the
Angelina River it is just before you get to the timber line. The old Rail
Road ran beside the town and unloaded rail cars there.
The Crappie have been moving around a lot with some up the river and some
over the brush piles. We did get out and catch a few off the New Pontoon
boat that we have at Jackson Hill Marina. We are booking trips for the
spring so don't wait to long. Round up your friends and get your trip
booked. We can handle up to 10 anglers on the pontoon.
If you haven't heard about The Bass Class on the water check it out on the
website and give me a call. Come on down and learn some nifty little tricks
that will put some fish in the boat.

God Bless
