11-03-08- fish report
Reel um N Guide Service Owner Lynn Atkinson 11/02/08 Sam Rayburn is at 157.03 ft and has started to hold its own. The water temperature has been around 70 degrees. The water is starting to clear some. Sam Rayburn is low! Over 7.25 ft; so running around can be a little tricky. Getting a couple of good maps, sitting down and taking a look may keep you out of trouble. You could hire a guide and let him show you how to get around the bad areas and catch a few fish at the same time. The City of Warsaw is out of the water on both ends. I have had a lot of folks asking where that is. This may help you in finding it. If you're running up the lake and you go under the 147 bridge to the long cut up the Angelina River it is just before you get to the timber line. The old Rail Road ran beside the town and rail cars were unloaded there. Ok, now for the fishing report. The fish are making a change right now with some up shallow chasing Stanley Ribbits around the grass and pads. Stanley has a new way to fish a Ribbit called the Buzzit. There is a video on the Stanley Jig web site that will explain everything. I love the way it works. You can really slow it down over the grass and pads and let them take it in. The blades help them key in on everything; not just the back legs where you miss so many strikes. We had a few chasing Crankbaits around the grass edges and pads. Then we have some on the deeper ledges that have been doing well on C/R and T/R worms and brush hogs. This is going be a little short this time but we have been working on a forum to replace the old one on my site. We will be moving all 3 years of reports over to it and hopefully the pictures. It may take sometime but we will get it there. We may leave the reply up and running, along with some other stuff that will be nice to have. So I hope to hear from you all real soon. Now is a good time if you've got a boat to get it in the shop and have the water pump and lower unit checked. Go ahead and have it tuned up for next time you drag it to the lake. Don't wait till spring and then have to take a number at the shop. There are no big lines to wait on now. If you're going to set it up this winter, get it ready. Remember how crazy the repair shops gets in the spring with everyone coming in to get stuff done. Don't wait! Get your ride in there so you are ready to go fishing at the rattle of a new lure. The Crappie have been moving around a lot with some of them moving up river and some over the brush piles. We did get out there and fill a cooler.
The Catfish have picked up some this week around the structure in about 12 to 18 ft. The cool morning air has been Awesome. Recent sunrise light shows have been pretty darn spectacular and the sunsets ain't to shabby either. The 22 ft pontoon is ready to go for the larger Crappie trips and will be added to the website in the next week. We will be renting it with a captain to drive. So get you trips booked now. If you haven't heard about The Bass Class on the water check it out on the website and give me a call. Come on down and let me teach you how the pros work a lake. God Bless
