9-29-08-fish report
Reel um N Guide Service By Lynn Atkinson
09/28/08
Sam Rayburn is at 158.42 ft and starting to hold its own, the water temperature has been around 76 degrees. The water is clear to around 2 ft.
The water level has started to settle down some and the fishing has started to pick up. We have been catching fish from around the grass lines to as deep as 25 feet off deep structure. These fish have seen a lot of changes in the last few weeks with the Hurricane and then the water dropping like a rock. They weren't sure where to hide. With things getting back to normal these fish will start getting into a pattern more usual for the fall weather we've been having. There are a lot of different baits that work in the fall; top water is my favorite; Stanley Ribbits, Pop - Rs and Buzz Baits. I have a few more that I will keep under my hat. Crankbaits and Traps are also good baits to cover some water and snag some of these fish. There will be some fish chasing shad so keep a spoon or small crankbait tied on for them.
The Crappie have started to pickup over the brush piles with some good size slabs being caught on live bait. I look for the crappie to get better with the cooler weather coming in.
I'll be giving away "1 Free trip for Fall" in the next few weeks so keep a check on the website and see if your email comes up. If you're not signed up you need to go to the website and do so. The email address will be posted on the website and only be good for a few hours. Get all the details at the website. It could be an early Xmas Gift.
We got out and caught a few Crappie over the many brush piles that we've put out. Some of the Crappie have been huge and the kids have had a ball catching them. Remember get the kids out fishing and have some fun.
The 22 ft pontoon boat is waiting on a few more finishing touches before it's delivered. It will be used on the larger Crappie trips. We may also be doing tours or renting the pontoon with a captain to do the driving. It will be based out of Jackson Hill Marina so look for more updates.
