August-26-08 fish report
Reel um N Guide Service By Lynn Atkinson 08/25/08 Sam Rayburn is at 160.29ft, the water temperature has been around 85 degrees. The water is clear to around 2 ft. This week has been pretty wet with rain showers almost everyday. The rain hasn't been hard, just steady. The lake has gone up a little and then started dropping again. The good thing is it's dropped the water temperature a few degrees which has made the fish a little more active. We have managed to get out a few days and catch some fish around the lily pads and grass edges. The cloud cover and cool breeze was nice. The top water bite produced a lot of small fish and a keeper now and then. The wacky worm did the best. Working them around the edges we snagged a couple of nice fish. If the water continues to cool the bite should continue to improve. Working a few Crankbaits and Carolina Rigs off the points and the edges of some of the drops should produce a few fish. We got out and caught a few Crappies over the many brush piles that we put out. Some of these Crappie have been huge and the kids have had a ball catching them. Remember get the kids out fishing and have some fun. We are looking to add a 22 ft pontoon boat in the next few weeks that will be used on the larger Crappie trips. We may also be doing tours or renting the pontoon with a captain to do the driving. It will be based out of Jackson Hill Marina so look for more updates. The Cat fish have slowed down this week. If you haven't heard about The Bass Class on the water check it out on the website and give me a call. Come on down and learn some nifty little tricks that will put you in the front of the pack. God Bless
