8-18-08 fish report
Reel um N Guide Service By Lynn Atkinson 08/17/08 Sam Rayburn is at 160.26ft, the water temperature has been around 89 degrees. The water is clear to around 2 ft. This week the fishing has picked up a little. We've had a few more fish being caught around the grass and lily pads. We caught several nice fish on frogs this week and I hope that's a good sign. The weather has had a lot to do with it. How So? A little north wind, some cloud cover and a little rain can make a big difference when it comes to fishing. You have to be careful and not let any big storms catch you on "Big Sam". It can get pretty nasty out there in a hurry. The fish have been buried in the grass and lily pads, staying put thru out the day and not chasing much. Working the grass and pads early and late has been the best with Frogs and Pop - Rs. Then move out to the edges with senko's and wacky worms and just stay with it. Working the points with a Carolina and Texas Rig will get a few bites. Throwing a crankbait on the edges can produce a few fish. Good luck. The Crappie fishing has picked up some this week. Hopefully some coolers will get filled in the next few weeks. Remember get the kids out fishing and have some fun. The Cat fish have been doing pretty good this week with a lot of keeper size fish being caught. If you haven't heard about The Bass Class on the water check it out on the website and give me a call. Learn some new skills and a few tricks to catch fish on any lake.
God Bless
