June-9-08 Fish Report
Reel um N Guide Service By Lynn Atkinson 06/8/08 Sam Rayburn is at 162.88 ft. The water temperature has been around 80 degrees. The water is clear to around 2 ft.
This week has been windy, but we got out there and caught some fish. Fishing offshore structure was out of the question with the 6 foot rollers that "Big Sam" can put out. We basically went from pocket to pockets fishing Stanley Ribbit Frogs over the lily pads and grass catching some nice fish. The Topwater bite has started to payoff this last week and should continue thru the summer months. There are a few fish everywhere but some groups have better fish in them. Finding these groups means covering a lot of water and not slowing down till you find them. If you can get on the outside points and creek edges you should snag a few on Crankbaits, Carolina and Texas Rigs. On the outside Grass line we've been doing okay with the Stanley Football Jig. This is one of the new jigs and it's one I have one tied on all the time. I have put some good fish in the boat with this bait. The grass bite is just getting good and we've just started to do a little pitching, picking up a few nice fish. I look for this to improve. The offshore structure will only get better as the water warms-up and the big fish move out.
Fathers day weekend is here! Remember when Dad took you fishing? Now is the time for you to bring him out on the lake to do a little fishing. Don't let someone just sit around the house. Get them into a boat, and have some fun. Live life to the fullest! Give me a call and we will work something out to get them on the water. You can even bring the kids and teach them how to fish this summer. Start making memories that will last a lifetime.
The crappie this week has been doing okay around the bridge and over the grass edges along with the brush piles.
If you haven't heard about The Bass Class on the Water check it out on the website and give me a call. Learn some new tricks and be able to find fish on any lake.
God Bless
