May 27- 2008- fish report
Reel um N Guide Service By Lynn Atkinson 05/26/08 Sam Rayburn is at 163.27 ft. The water temperature has been around 75 degrees. The water is clear to around 2 ft.
This week we have been catching some fish in the shallows and some off deep structure. There are a lot of fish moving into the pads and Grass. Just getting them to bite and having any size to them is hard. The big ol' gals are just laying there and don't play much. The Topwater bite has just started to get exciting with a few blowups. Get those Topwater baits out and give them a try here and there. We did fish some creeks and offshore structure with some pretty good luck but it was still slow going. We had 6 good fish Thursday off the structure with one going over 5 lbs. We lost after she made a couple of good jumps. We didn't stay on any of the fish long thinking they might stay put for Paul's tournament. Some of our best baits were the Carolina and Texas Rig along with Stanley Jigs. On the Carolina and Texas Rig we used lizards and worms made by E2 Bait Company to put a few in the boat. Some of the best colors have been Pumpkin, Green Pumpkin and Watermelon Red. The best depth has been 5 to 12 ft. in the grass, and 16 to 25 on the deep fish. Remember when Dad took you fishing? Now maybe the time for you to bring him out on the lake to do a little fishing. Don't let someone just sit around the house, get them out fishing and have some fun. Live life to the fullest! Give me a call and we work something out to get them out on the water. You can even bring the kids and teach them how to fish this summer. Start making memories that will last a lifetime.
Crappie has been doing okay this week with a lot caught off the bridges and grass edges. There are a lot still with eggs in them that we've been catching off the brush piles. Minnows have been the best so far. Over the grass a small Trap or Road Runner will pick up a few.
If you haven't heard about The Bass Class on the Water check it out on the website and give me a call. Learn some new tricks and be able to find fish on any lake.
God Bless
