2-25-fishing report
Reel um N Guide Service By Lynn Atkinson
02/24/08 Sam Rayburn is at 161.56 Ft and has came up a foot this week. The water temperature has been around 58 . Some of the pockets have been a little muddy with the rains we have had this week..
We've been out several times this week catching a lot of male bass in the shallows. The females seem to be hanging back, off the deeper edges. The fish should make a move this next week if the weather holds and we should see some good fish caught. We've been starting out early working the shallow flats. We worked our way out to deeper water as the morning bite started to slow down. We had several good fish that got off after they tangled up in some structure. Be ready! Some of these fish hit hard and pull you around anything they can find, others bite so light it's hard to feel them.
Just a few of the baits we have been throwing are Rat-L-Traps, Crankbaits, Stanley Jigs, C/R , T/R and wacky worms. The colors have been Pumpkinseed, Watermelon Red, Green Pumpkin, and Jug Bug.
The crappie have been up the river and I mean up the river around the channels. With a few being caught here and there around some of the brush piles. With the little rain we have had I hope to see them start moving back down the lake anytime now.
I'll be taking a test drive in a new boat from Coolwater Boats sometime in March to see how it rides. My Nitro29 may be coming up for sale. If you're looking for a boat give me a call. If you need to get away for the day and do a little fishing or would like to check out The Bass Class On The Water give me a call. Thanks and God Bless
