May-5- Fishing report

Reel um N Guide Service

Sam Rayburn is at 163.45 ft and still falling. The water temperature has
been around 72.
The water in clear for the most part to 2 ft. with a little more color as
you go up the rivers.

This week has been tough with the winding blowing and a cool front moving
thru along with the Bass on a slow bite. There are a lot of small fish up
shallow but the bigger fish have moved back out and have been holding on
the deeper grass lines and creek edges. We've been getting some top water
action off the Stanley Ribbits early and late in the day around some of the
pads and grass. Hopefully as the water warms up this Topwater bite will get
better. So keep you top water baits handy. On the deeper side you have to
slow down and down size the baits. The Carolina and Texas rig are some
good ways to cover the deeper water and grass edges; again if big baits
aren't getting it done try some smaller one's. Try little theE2 bait
Needle Worm or 6 " Lizards but work them slow. The drop shot is another
good way to fish this time of year, working it slow.

The Crappie have been doing good this week with a lot caught off the
bridges and grass edges. There are a lot still with eggs in them that
we've been catching off the brush piles. Minnows have been the best so
far. Over the grass a small Trap or Road Runner will pickup a few. I know
we have had 3 limits this week and a lot of fun doing it.

If you haven't heard about The Bass Class on the Water check it out on the
website and give me a call. Learn some neat stuff to help find fish on any
lake. God Bless
