Yelas joins FLW Outdoors' Team Chevy Moves to Ranger
01/01/2009 -
Effective today, I will be entering into a new endorsement relationship with FLW Outdoors and Ranger Boat Company as part of Team Chevy. This is a move designed to further strengthen my relationship with FLW Outdoors, the largest fishing tournament organization in the world. I am honored to be joining Team Chevy again. I was previously on the Chevy Pro Staff in 2002-2003.
Over the long haul, it just makes more sense for a professional angler to fish out of a Ranger in FLW Outdoors events. I will continue my endorsement relationship with Yamaha Outboards.
There are several reasons why I am such a strong supporter of FLW Outdoors. FLW Outdoors is the leader in the fishing tournament industry, and they have a bright future. Their sustainable business model will prove its merit during these difficult economic times. Additionally, I find partnering with FLW Outdoors to be both tremendously rewarding and enjoyable. I appreciate the family friendly atmosphere of their tournaments. Working with the staff and sponsors of FLW Outdoors is a pleasure that I look forward to for many years to come.
Many fishing fans may not remember this, but my first bass boat was a Ranger 360V that I purchased back in 1987, right after graduating from Oregon State University. I won several tournaments and regional Angler-of-the-Year titles out of that Ranger, including the 1988 Red Man Tournament of Champions. The people and products of Ranger Boat Company have always drawn my admiration. I am excited about going to work for this fine company which was founded by a long-time hero of mine, fishing and boating legend Forrest L. Wood.
