(Jan. 21, 2013 - Lake Houston, Huffman, Tx)... Anglers Quest 2013 Lake Houston Saturday #1 out of Lake Houston Marina in Huffman, Tx began this event with 56 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $4700.00 purse. Any team entering 6 of the 8 Lake Houston Saturday Series events will automatically qualify for the 2-day Houston Championship. The top team in points after 8 events will be declared the Team Anglers of the Year and will be awarded free entries to all 2014 Houston Saturday Series events. The teams entering all 8 Houston Saturday series events will automatically qualify for all 3 of the Lake Series 2-day Championships. Any team qualifying for any A/Q Championship will be allowed to enter the "Tournament of Champions" on October 23-27 at Toledo Bend. This 1st event of 2013 was started at 6:55 am.
Lake Houston water was in good shape and at approximately normal pool level with water temps ranning 58-59 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 46 degrees with a warming to 67 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was slow on Lake Mud today as there were only 2 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 47 bass at 121.22 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.57 lb.
The team of David Wheaton from Huffman, Tx & Tansley Bynog Sr from Porter, Tx ran David’s Gambler/Mercury bass rig to numerous parts of the West Fork to catch their bass throwing C-rigged worms in 3-10 ft of water. They only managed to get 5 bites to finish with a great sack at 20.26 lbs with a 6.59 lber for their kicker and Big Bass of the event. This win made them $2200.00 for their day on the water. This is the 3rd heaviest 5 bass stringer on Lake Houston ever recorded by A/Q in a tournament in the past 16 yrs.
The team of Randy Quin from Huffman, Tx & Mark Rouse from League City, Tx ran Randy’s Champion/Mercury bass rig to various spots all over the lake. Randy fished this event alone today and finished in 2nd with his best 5 bass caught with worms & small cranks in 1-5 ft water. Randy’s bass tipped the scales at 12.59 lbs. He had a limit in the boat by noon and then culled 1 time throughout the day. His day on the lake paid back $1000.00 for his efforts.
The team of James Chandler from Liberty, Tx & Sandro Alfaro from Crosby, Tx. Sandro fished this event alone today and finished in 3rd with his best 4 bass caught with tx rigged worms & spinner baits in 1-5 ft water in the East Fork and collected $715.00 for his efforts.
The team of Chris DiBerardino from Huffman, Tx & Kary Essl from Crosby, Tx finished in 4th with 3 bass at 8.48 lbs and collected $400.00. The team of Robert Willis & Wesley Bennett finished in 5th with 8.28 lbs to collect the last money spot of $200.00. The 1st place out of the money at all A/Q events this year will receive $50.00 gift cards from Martels Welding Works towards the purchase of a Rhino spray in Bed Liner. You must be present at weigh in to collect the gift cards or they are passed to the next boat.

The postponed January 13th Individual Livingston event will be done on January 27th at Kickapoo Bait & Tackle. On February 9th & 10th Anglers Quest will be back at Lake Livingston for the 2nd of 8 Saturday & Individual Series events. On February 16th & 17th A/Q will be back at Lake Houston Marina for the 2nd of 8 events. Anglers Quest still accepts Credit Cards.
