(Nov. 14, 2012 - Chalmette, LA)... Another season of the Presented by Hobie is officially in the books! The 2012 season concluded recently at the Tour Championship in Chalmette, Louisiana. The no-entry fee Championship proved to be a tremendous event, thanks in large part to the support of our sponsors. In addition to the deep overall payout, the grand prize included a brand new, Pro Angler Hobie Kayak! The Tour Championship in Chalmette also gave us the opportunity to crown the 2012 Overall Angler of the Year. With a 45-inch redfish which ultimately won Big Fish honors of the event, Fil Spencer clinched the overall award in addition to a $1,000 cash prize.

Benton Parrott wins 2012 IFA Kayak Championship
Alabama angler takes home new Hobie kayak with victory Benton Parrott, of Spanish Fort, Ala., caught two redfish and two speckled sea trout that measured a combined 123.375 inches in length to win the 2012 IFA Kayak Fishing Tour Championship presented by Hobie Fishing at Chalmette, La., on November 3.
To win the two-day event, which operated out of Gulf Outlet Marina, Parrott topped a large field of anglers to take home a new Hobie Mirage Pro Angler Kayak. Parrot added $1,000 with the Hobie Top Angler Award for having the highest place finish for an angler competing in a Hobie Kayak.
Fil Spencer wins Overall Angler of the Year
Prize includes $1,000 cash plus $300 Berkley Gulp! bonus Fil Spencer, who finished insixth place, won the Overall 2012 Angler of the Year Award and took home $1,000 as well as the $300 Berkley Gulp! contingency award. The Overall Angler of the Year award represents a remarkable season for Spencer, who’s been guiding and fishing in South Texas for almost 40 years.
Spencer’s 45-inch redfish also earned Big Fish honors at the 2012 IFA Kayak Fishing Tour Championship. Join us in congratulating Fil on a remarkable season and well-deserved Angler of the Year award.
