Anglers Quest 2012 Livingston Saturday Series Championship is now in the books, and the Saturday Series for Lake Livingston is complete for 2012. The event began on Friday evening with dinner & drinks at Buster McNutty’s with the presentation of the special "Anglers of the Year Goal Post" to the "same ole" "Anglers of the Year", Larry Jenkins & Dale Hill, they will receive free paid entries to all A/Q Livingston Saturday Series Events in 2013. The Side Pot Auction followed and sold teams from $100 to $200 and raised $4500.00 to add to the anglers pot.
The weather was cloudy and threatening rain on Saturday & Sunday, but never did with mid 60’s at daybreak to low 80’s during the day with a light breeze for the event on Lake Livingston. As the event got underway with the 24 qualified teams taking off into the dim morning light from their choice of launch ramps around the lake at 6:40 am. The anglers were all going for the $11,535.00 purse that was the payback by Anglers Quest at this Championship event. The water at Lake Livingston was changing almost by the hour and was at approximately 1 ft below normal pool level. At the end of day 1 the 24 teams brought in 17 limits of bass, 103 fish that totaled 246.20 lbs with a 2.39 avg. At the end of day 2 the 24 teams brought in 13 limits of bass, 79 fish that totaled 183.76 lbs with a 2.32 avg.
After the 2 full days of competition the team of Darwin Ballard & Ricky Oliver did have the 2nd BB of the event at a fine 5.65 lber and collected $400.00 for that one bite. The team of Chris DiBerardino from Huffman, Tx & Albert White from Crosby, Tx brought in 10 bass at 24.27 lbs to collect the 2 Martel Welding Works Rhino Bed Liner $25.00 gift certificates. The 2012 Anglers of the Year Larry Jenkins & Dale Hill from Livingston, Tx brought in 10 bass at 24.94 lbs to claim 6th place and $200.00. The team of Dean Coleman from Humble, Tx & Jim Guzman from Cold Spring, Tx ran Dean’s Ranger all over lake Livingston and came to the scales with 10 bass at 25.04 lbs to give them a 5th place finish and collected $250.00.
The team of David Wheaton from Huffman, Tx & Tansley Bynog Sr from Porter, Tx ran David’s Gambler/Mercury bass rig to the north end of the lake to bring in a 10 bass limit at 25.39 lbs and claimed 4th place and $400.00. They did not purchase their team in the Side Pot auction for $200.00 BUT, Barbara Long did and received a check for $450.00.
The team of Todd Hughes from Goodrich, Tx & Craig Morris brought in 10 bass at 25.97 lbs and claimed 3rd place and $785.00. Todd & Craig did purchase their team in the Side Pot auction for $200.00 and received an additional check for $900.00 making them a total of $1685.00.
The team of Jeff Stanley from Houston, Tx & Jimmy Emmons Jr brought in 10 bass at 29.69 lbs and claimed 2nd place and $1400.00. Jeff & Jimmy did purchase their team in the Side Pot auction for $200.00 and received an additional check for $1125.00 making them a total of $2525.00.
The team of Billy Jordan from Onalaska, Tx & Roger Dousay from Livingston, Tx ran Billy’s Nitro/Mercury bass rig to mid & south lake areas in 4-18 ft water with wood & rocks around piers & docks and put together 2 nice limits of 10 bass that tipped the scales at 30.42 lbs to finish 1st in this event and collected $2800.00. They caught all their bass on Tx rigs & crank baits. They did purchase their team in the Side Pot auction for $200.00 and received an additional $2025.00 for their part of the Side Pot. They also landed the 1st Big Bass of 5.81 lbs on day 1 for an additional $800.00 to give the team a total payday of $5625.00...not bad for a couple days of fishin, Good Job Guys!!
Anglers Quest 2013 Schedules & Rules are now available online at the anglers-quest website. The 1st events for the 2013 season will be the Saturday Series Team event on Sam Rayburn, January 5, & the Individual event on January 6, 2013.
