(Jul. 09, 2012 - The Umphrey Pavilion, Sam Rayburn, Tx)...

Anglers Quest 2012 Sam Rayburn Saturday Series #7 out of The Umphrey Pavilion in Sam Rayburn, Tx began this event with 64 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $4180.00 purse. This 7th event of 2012 was started as a trailoring event at 5:55 am. The weigh in time was conducted at 4:00 pm. Any Team entering 6 of the 8 saturday series events at Sam Rayburn will automatically qualify for the 2-day Rayburn Team Championship. The top Team in points after all 8 events will be declared the Anglers of the Year and will be awarded free entries to all 2013 Rayburn Saturday Series events. The Teams entering all 8 Rayburn Saturday Series events will automatically qualify for all 3 of the Lakes Individual Series 2-day Championships. Anyone qualifying for any A/Q Championship will be allowed to enter the "Tournament of Champions" on October 20-21 at Lake Falcon.

Sam Rayburn water was in good shape at 1 ft below normal pool level with water temps ranning 88-89 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 76 degrees with a warming to 97 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was slow on Big Sam today as there were only 8 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 65 bass at 156.14 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.40 lb.

The team of Rusty Clark from Sam Rayburn, Tx & Cory Rambo from Orange, Tx ran Cory’s new Ranger/Yamaha from Premier Yamaha Boats in Beaumont, Tx to north lake areas to catch their bass throwing c-rigged worms & lizards along with top water River2Sea proto-type pop n frogs in 1-8 ft of water. They managed to cull from 20 keepers to finish in 1st place with 18.47 lbs for the win and made them $1600.00 for their day on the water. Rodney Owens from Ragley, La & Scott Gill from DeRidder, La ran their bass rig to mid lake areas to catch their limit of bass and bring 14.88 lbs to the scales to garner 2nd place. They collected $850.00 for their day on the water.

The team of Bill Burns & WC Burns ran their bass rig to north lake areas to catch their bass throwing c-rigs in 8-20 ft of water. They managed to cull several times to finish in 3rd with 14.69 lbs and made them $610.00 for their day on the water.

The team of Chris McCall & Clayton Boulware ran Clayton’s Nitro/Mercury bass rig to north lake areas to catch their bass throwing Santone Lures swim baits & c-rigs in 5-15 ft of water. They managed to cull several times to finish in 4th with 14.29 lbs and made them $400.00 for their day on the water.

Daryl Pool from Manvel, Tx & Duane Colvin from Nederland, Tx ran their bass rig to north lake areas to probe the ditches, drains & points with grass to bring 10.91 lbs to the scales. They finished in 5th and also had the Big Bass of the event at 7.93 lbs to collect $390.00 for their day on the water. Moises Rubio & Allan Shivers had 9.31 lbs to finish in 6th and collect $170.00 in this event.
