Anglers Quest 2012 Lake Houston Saturday Series #6 out of Lake Houston Marina in Huffman, Tx began this event with 60 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $3910.00 purse. Any team entering 6 of the 8 Lake Houston Team Series events will automatically qualify for the 2-day Houston Championship. The top team in points after all 8 events will be declared the Team Anglers of the Year and will be awarded free entries to all 2013 Houston Team Series events. The teams entering all 8 Houston Team series events will automatically qualify for all 3 of the Lakes Team Series 2-day Championships. Any team qualifying for any A/Q Championship will be allowed to enter the "Tournament of Champions" on October 20-21 at Lake Falcon. This 6th event of 2012 was started at 5:55 am. Lake Houston water was in decent shape and at approximately normal pool with water temps ranning 90-92 degrees. The weather at takeoff was calm and 78 degrees with a warming to 98 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was decent on Lake Houston today as there were 10 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 83 bass at 180.09 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.16 lb.
The Team of Dean Coleman & Jimmy Emmons Jr from Humble, Tx ran Jimmy’s Champion/Yamaha bass rig to the north & south ends of the lake to catch their bass throwing rivets in 1-5 ft of water around pads using their rods & reels. They managed to cull several times to finish in 1st place with 12.37 lbs. This win made them $1450.00 for their day on the water.
The team of Chris DiBerardino from Huffman, Tx & Albert White from Houston, Tx ran Chris’s Triton/Mercury bass rig to north lake creeks. They finished in 2nd with their best 5 bass caught with tx rigged worms & small cranks in 1-5 ft water that tipped the scales at 12.01 lbs and collected $800.00 for their efforts.
The team of Robert Willis from Kingwood, Tx & Wesley Bennett from Houston, Tx ran Robert’s bass rig to north lake creeks. They finished in 3rd with their best 5 bass caught with tx rigged worms & spinner baits in 1-5 ft water that tipped the scales at 11.93 lbs. They collected $600.00 for their efforts.
The team of John Littleton from Humble, Tx & Danny StAndrie from Huffman, Tx finished in 4th with 5 bass at 11.51 lbs and also had the big bass at 3.92 lbs and collected $550.00 for their day on the water. The team of Wade Byron & Brian Long finished in 5th place with 11.43 lbs and collected $200.00 for their day on the water. David Marlow & Dennis Wells claimed 6th with 10.84 lbs and took home $160.00.
