Anglers Quest 2010 Conroe Saturday Series #2 out of El Dorado Jack’s in Montgomery, TX began this event with 34 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $2290.00 purse.The event began at safe light at 6:28 am with weigh conducted at 3:15 pm. This Conroe Saturday Series after all 9 events will provide the Team Anglers of the year with free entries to all 2011 Conroe Saturday Series events. The Top 10 teams in pounds and all teams that enter all 9 Conroe Saturday Series events will qualify for the Tournament of Champions Championship on November 13-14 on Lake Palestine.
Lake Conroe water was in good shape and about normal pool level with water temps running 48-52 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 36 degrees with a warming to 60 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was slow for most today on Conroe as there was only 1 limit brought to the scales, for a total of 31 bass at 108.08 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 3.48 lb.
The team of Danny McElroy from Shiro, Tx & Jarrod McElroy from Conroe, Tx ran Jarrod’s Triton/Johnson bass rig to areas above the 1097 bridge to catch 5 keeper bass throwing cranks & drop shot worms in 10 ft water using their custom BP fishing rods & Shimano reels. They reported catching 17 bass and culling to 5 at 18.19 lbs to finish in 1st place and collect $1100.00 for their day on the water. The special Tiremax bonus offered today for $3000.00 was not won as the McElroy’s did not have a Tiremax ticket. The team of Tony Murray from Porter, Tx & Ricky Bishop from Willis, Tx ran Tony’s BassCat/Mercury bass rig to numerous areas all over the lake throwing crank baits to catch and bring 4 bass to the scales today at 16.01 lbs to finish in 2nd and collect $600.00 for their day on the water.
The husband & wife team of Jason & Christi Slot from Pearland, Tx brought 2 bass to the scales today at 13.99 lbs to finish in 3rd and collect $505.00 for their day on the water. One of their bass was the Big Bass of the event at 8.35 lbs. They reported catching their bass on Jigs in 10 ft water.
The team of Shawn Hodges & Mike Needham were the 1st place out of the money today, but were not present at awards time, so the position was awarded to the next team in order which was present. Eddy Thomas & Mike Parsons with 3 bass at 10.19 lbs. They took home the Santone & ZZ Lures gift certificates for their day on the water.
Anglers Quest will be back at El Dorado Jack’s on Lake Conroe on Saturday & Sunday, March 20th & 21st for the 3rd of 9 Lake Conroe Saturday & Individual Series events. On March 6th & 7th Anglers Quest will be at Kickapoo Bait & Tackle on Lake Livingston for the 3rd of 9 Livingston Saturday & Individual Series events. The next Saturday & Individual series at Sam Rayburn will be on March 13th & 14th. Remember to get your teams entry in early to get a low take off #, as they are issued when you enter.
