(Nov. 02, 2009 - Lake Texoma, TX)... The day began with moderate temperatures and calm winds. Even though the wind kicked up mid-day, overall it was a beautiful day for fishing at Lake Texoma on Saturday, October 24, when the North Region hosted its Early Bird Open Tournament. Dan and Terri Jezek brought in the only limit to weigh in . Their winning stringer weighed 12.02 pounds and was anchored by Men’s big bass weighing 4.22 pounds. Terri said they used spinnerbaits. The Jezeks are tough competitors and were short just a few points short of winning Angler of the Year in the North Region this year. Congratulations on your Texoma win and strong 2009 finish! Lake Texoma proved stingy with her big bass and, except for those caught by Dan, the ladies were more successful than the men in catching the heavier fish.
Second Place with four fish went to Jesse and Kathy Timmons. Their stringer contained one nice smallmouth weighing just under two pounds caught on a crankbait by Kathy. The others were caught by Jesse on spinnerbait and a fluke.
Third Place went Kyle and Ann Johnson. Ann caught their fish on grubs.
Ladies’ Big Bass went to Catt Marshall with a nice 2.52 pound largemouth she said she caught on a jig.
The side pot was split between the teams of Jezek and Johnson.
Congratulations to today’s winners! Thank you to all the teams that participated at the North Region’s Open Tournament and for making it a success. With their paid membership for 2010, all those that participated in this event will have 25 bonus points will be added toward qualifying for the 2010 Championship to be held at Lake Brownwood October 8 - 10.
